Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete
The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and were in contact with the NFL.
The team did not mention Rice specifically in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete by name, shared a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.
Police Reports Currently Not on File
No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.
Rice's Prior Legal Issues
The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals hurt. Rice was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.
Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
